So I'm dancing around my bedroom to Ole! by The Bouncing Souls when, during my most fabulous kick-step-turn move (which I will only do in the privacy of my own bedroom, btw), I glance out my window and see not 1, not 2, but FIVE (5!!!!!!!!) Koreans watching me from the building across the parking lot. I felt I had put on a rather fantastic performance so I took a bow but they didn't applaud. They either left or fell down laughing, I'm not sure which, but they're gone now.

note to self...close the curtains before getting your groove on!!!!!!!

Help, Please...

I'm looking to expand my music collection. Any suggestions? I'm open to any style, so let me know what y'all are listening to these days...

This was emailed to me by a few different people, plus it's on Brownie's blog. But for anyone who hasn't seen it....

"Drunkenness is off the charts"

Vilnius, Lithuania - Lithuanian police were so astonished by a breath test that registered 18 times the legal alcohol limit, they thought their device was broken.

It wasn't.

Police said Tuesday that Vidmantas Sungaila, 41, registered 7.27 grams of alcohol per liter in his blood repeatedly on different devices after he was pulled over Saturday for driving his truck down the center of a two-lane highway. Lithuania's legal limit is 0.4 grams per liter.

Sungalia, who was slapped with a $1,110 fine and the loss of his license for up to three years, told police he had been drinking the night before and tried to freshen up by downing a pint of beer for breakfast.

Test week is over!! I think I may be happier than my kids!! Results are pretty much what I expected...my younger classes did pretty well, but my oldest kids totally sucked. Lately I've had a really hard time getting them to pay attention in class, they never do their homework, and I knew going into the test that they didn't really know the material. A few of them didn't even attempt to do the last page of the test, which was a very easy 'match the word with the picture' type thing I threw on at the last minute as a way to help boost their scores. Fucking teenagers!! I guess I can't get too upset...it's not like I was a model student!!

In an amazingly super surprise move, the school actually gave us tomorrow off!!! NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!!! HA!! Take that QNL!! All those days when I had to go to work and you had delays or snow days!! I hope your kids are totally crazy all day long!!! I'll be sleeping, or wandering around town, or...it really doesn't matter what I'm doing, because I WON'T BE AT SCHOOL!!!!!!

Tuesday night I had dinner with some new friends that Kim introduced to me. Abbi, Minhaie, Sujin, and there's no way I can spell Sujin's friend's name. We went for some delicious Italian food (served with kimchi, of course) in Jongak, and then headed over to Insadong for some tea. It was such a great night!

Just wondering...

Is there anyone out there who isn't glad this week is almost over?!?!?!?

Tonight I went to a rock festival with my friend Gwan-sic. It was at Donguk University, where he studies business management. We saw a great Korean rock band, who were actually less rock and more punk/ska but nonetheless they really got the crowd moving! I tried to start up a conversation with a guy in a New York Dolls t-shirt, but it turns out he didn't know who they were. Poser!!!

Anyway, we saw some great music, had some yummy Korean food (and some not so yummy Ramyeon) and a few drinks with his university buddies before I had to call it a night. It was so much fun!!

Damn you, Nields!! Get out of my head!! OUT, OUT, OUT!!! Don't you have anything better to do with your time than just sit in my brain all day, singing the same few lines of 'Easy People' over and over again?!?!?!

Silver Lining...

So the plus side to not sleeping is that I have time to dance around my apartment, singing like a rock star at the top of my lungs, before I go to work! This morning I chose 'Play' by The Nields, which is an album everyone should check out immediately.

I bet my neighbors love me!!!

I haven't been sleeping very well the past week or so. I fall asleep with no problem, but wake up constantly throughout the night and by 5 a.m. at the latest I'm just wide awake. It sucks. I've never had problems sleeping before, usually I have issues with staying awake. Work has been crazy lately, and I'm very worried (probably too worried) about a friend that I've been unable to contact so I'm sure it's just a by-product of having too much crap swirling around in my brain. Hopefully it will go away soon...I've been out of bed for 3 hours and it's only 7 a.m.!!

I LOVE MY KIDS!!

This is Andrew, and I loooove him!! He is soooo funny! He's new to the school and doesn't know much English so all through class he just chatters away in Korean and doesn't seem to care that I have no idea what he's saying. Every now and then he'll pause and give me a look, like, "Why haven't you answered me?!?" So I just nod and smile and say, "Oh, yeah!!!" and he smiles and keeps talking. He must have recently seen the movie 'Madagascar' because today he entertained all of us by dancing and singing, "I like to move it, move it...I like to move it, move it..." His class is learning about family right now and one of the assignments was to draw and label the members of their family. Everyone else drew the typical mommy, daddy, sister, etc. but he drew a bunch of aliens standing on the moon and insisted that's where he came from. He only comes to class twice a week, but I wish I saw him everyday!!

Yay!!! Min comes back on Sunday!! And rumor has it he may have tastycakes with him!! I LOVE TASTYCAKES!!! And, of course, Min is ok too... :)
