Friday Feast # 96

Appetizer
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest), how funny do you think you are?

To myself, or others? I amuse myself to no end, so definitely a 10 there. To others, probably a 5 or 6.

Soup
Name a local restaurant you would recommend to a visitor to your town or city.

Well, I don't know the name of it since I can't read Korean, but clearly it would be the galbi place right off of Yaksu station exit #6!!!

Salad
What's a lesson you were lucky enough to learn the easy way?

Unfortunately, I tend to learn everything the hard way. :( But if I remember 3rd grade correctly, I think multiplication came pretty easy to me.

Main Course
Where would you like to be 5 years from now?

Happy and healthy, obviously. I don't know where I'll be tomorrow...I can't even begin to imagine 5 years from now...

Dessert
If you could see the front page of a newspaper from June 2, 2106, what would you imagine the headline might read?

"BROWNIE REMAINS THE WORLD'S BIGGEST WANKER EVER!!!"

Spending most of my free time this week with Min has made me realize something very important. I'm not usually one for big confessions over the internet, but here goes...I need more friends with expense accounts! Just kidding...Min is awesome and this week has been really great. I wish he didn't have to go home, as do all the single, desperate Korean women who have been throwing themselves at him (and giving me death stares) all week long. The best thing about his job is that they send him to Seoul every 6 - 8 weeks or so which means I'll get to see him again soon. In fact, he'll be back just in time to deliver any birthday gifts from home (hint, hint...).

Last night we went for some Mexican food in Itaewon and then we took a boat cruise of the Han River. But it wasn't just any old boat - it was a Pirate Ship!!! And not just any old Pirate Ship - it was one with Hispanic men dressed as Native Americans playing cheesy Simon and Garfunkle ballads on a pan flute!! In Korea!! And just when you thought it couldn't possibly get any better...there was a midget on the boat!!!!! Man, I was in heaven!!

Here's some pics. Enjoy!

I LOVE PIRATES!!!!

Min's GQ pose. He's so fucking hot!!!
You should see him in his new pink
shirt!! :)

Daydreaming about having my own midget.

They actually sang 'La Bamba.' It was great.

Pirates of the Caribbean...how original!!

Thank you, OCN!! Thank you for showing back to back episodes of CSI Miami and House!! I promise I will faithfully watch you every week, and will never go to the gym on a Monday night again!!!

Every episode of CSI Miami is just freakin' brilliant!!!!!

The Rest of My Weekend...

Let's see...Friday night was dinner with some coworkers and a few of their significant others, and then Joseph and I headed over to Kevin's place for a few more beers and to hang out on his rooftop garden. Kevin's roommate has a job with some company over here, and I'm not going to start a debate over the benefits of real jobs vs. hagwons, but we'll just say his apartment is nice.

Saturday was the palace, and then lunch in Insadong (I LOVE INSADONG, BTW) and Saturday night I took it easy and just hung out around Yaksu with my buddy Gwan-sic. I went to bed relatively early, so nothing really exciting to report there.

Sunday I got my ass out of bed, hopped on the Itaewon express (line 6) and tried to meet up with the Southside H3. This was the 3rd time I'd shown up to their meeting place on time, and no one showed up to get us to the hash. This time there were some other first timers waiting around as well, so at least I know I'm going to the right spot. The no-show was disappointing, but no big deal for me. I grabbed a sandwich and jumped back on the subway to head home. Some of the others had travelled quite a few hours to get there, though, and I think they were a little pissed.

By the time I got home from Itaewon I had a few missed calls from Min. He's back!! Yay!!! I was really excited to see him until I realized he doesn't know the difference between Tastycakes and Hostess cup cakes!! Good thing he's cute, or he'd be on his own this week! We spent the rest of the day just kind of bumming around, doing a little shopping, eating lots of yummy food. Overall, I'd say it was a really fantastic day!!
