A Joke For You...

What did the buddha say to the hot dog vendor????

Make me one with everything.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! HAAAAAAA! HAHAHAHA!!!!!

A few days ago I finished reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being, and I loved it. Before that I read Beyond the Sky and the Earth, The Castle of My Skin, and Citizen Girl and I enjoyed all of them. I need a new book!! Something funny this time around, I think...

Any suggestions?

Appetizer
Fill in the blanks: I ____________ when I _____________.

I dance when I hear music.
Sometimes it's only in my head, but if there's music playing I'm dancing. Please don't misinterpret this to mean I am a good dancer!! I've got zero rhythm.

Another one that popped in my head was 'I eat when I am bored.' It's a habit I'm trying to break.

Soup
Name something you use to make your home smell good.

HA!! That's a laugh! I live in Seoul...nothing smells good here, especially in my area! My building connects to this great outdoor market...I love wandering through the maze of alleys lined with stores and stalls of everything but it's constantly making my place smell like fish, bad incense, galbi, and mosquito coils. When I first got here I had a bunch of my friends mail me smelly candles from home, but they did little to help so now I've just grown accustomed to it.

Salad
If you could receive a coupon in the mail for 50% off any product, what would you want it to be for?

Hmmm...an around the world plane ticket, or maybe a 60 day orient express trip.

Main Course
Besides sleeping, what do you spend the majority of the hours of your typical day doing?

During the week it's working, but that's not by choice. Weekends, my time is split between wandering and going out.

Dessert
What can you hear right now while answering these questions?

Traffic and noise from the guy at the vegetable stand outside my window. For the past month, all I've heard is rain so today even the traffic is a welcoming noise!!

Last night I met up with my friend Gwan-Sic and one of his friends from school for dinner. We went to a few different places in Chungmuro, had some yummy bibimbap and drank some beer. It was fun and more importantly, I convinced Gwan-Sic to go with me on an adventure Monday and Tuesday!! Yay! I thought I would be going alone! I tried to get his friend to join us too, but after talking to me for about 5 minutes he said, "Uh...no. I'm sooo.......busy?" Oh well. His loss!!

The Worst Thing I Ever Put In My Mouth...

This is a picture of the bottle of vodka I brought back from North Korea. I decided that the Mud Fest this past weekend would be the perfect time to indulge...I love vodka, but unless you're in Itaewon it can be a bit difficult to find here. And there's no decent or flavored vodka...plain old Absolut is about the best you're gonna get.

Anyway, Rachellyn, Jenny and I figured it would be a great way to start the evening so on Saturday night we mixed it up with a little OJ, a little cider....and then a little more OJ and still more cider....

IT WAS SOOO HORRIBLE!!!

Luckily we were able to find some other beverages to get us through the night (and let me tell you we found many, many, many beverages!!) and as a result Sunday was spent recovering. I started up again around 3 with our Korean neighbors at the minbak, but I think it was closer to 8 till RL and Jenny left the room. By then, the sweet Korean family who ran the minbak as well as our neighbors had decided we were totally incapable of taking care of ourselves so they spent the evening feeding us nonstop and one guy even did some pretty bad magic tricks for us. We were commenting on how nice they were and wishing we had something to give them in return when our eyes fell upon the almost full bottle of NK vodka...

So here's a picture of our new friend returning the gift, saying "No, really, it tastes good but....I think it is very bad for my body!" And this was coming from a dude who had already drank 9 bottles of soju on his own!!! We couldn't give the shit away!! Later when he and I were hanging out drinking the last of the makgeolli he admitted that it was the worst thing he ever drank.

Yeah, me too.

thanks to Rachellynn for some of the pics....check out her site for more awesome shots of the weekend.

Dirty Girl HNT

As you can see, I got so dirty at the mud fest this weekend I needed some help getting clean again. Here's some pics of dirty me, and a shot of Rachellynn helping me get clean again.

Yesterday my cell phone, my iPod, and my computer all decided to stop working. They are the 3 things I need to have in order to maintain some level of sanity in this country. And they all stopped working.

On. The. Same. Day.

The iPod is pretty old and has served me well all over the world...I knew it was on its way out. The phone should be fine. The computer is brand fucking new. AND I HAVE THE BEST PICTURES EVER FROM THIS WEEKEND AND I CAN'T POST THEM!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!!!

I saw a movie where electronics started turning on their owners. It didn't turn out too well for the humans.

Anyway, if you've called my cell or sent me a text in the last 2 days I haven't received it. Sorry!! Hopefully I'll have a new phone within the next few days, but in the meantime try my home phone. Oh, and I'll need everyone to email me your phone numbers, since I can't get them out of my cell.
