Last weekend I went to Insadong. It was crowded! I mean, Insadong is always crowded, but it was crazy crowded! But I still loved it, because Insadong is one of my favorite places in Seoul and everytime I go there I love it! During the afternoon I wandered around, checked out the little stores, ate some yummy street food, and had some awesome bulgogi for lunch.
Then, for dinner, I went to eat yummy vegetarian temple food. Unfortunately, I'm forgetting the name of the place (though I think it's Sanbon, or something similar) but if you walk down the main street of Insadong you can't miss it. I have to tell you guys that if you're in Korea and you haven't done this yet you have to make it a priority! First of all, the place is fucking beautiful! My mouth literally dropped open when I walked inside. Flowers, lanterns, candles, amazing pictures...it was awesome. Everyone was seated at small wooden tables on the floor. The tables were arranged around a stage, and while we ate we watched this awesome show of traditional dances and drumming. Usually I find that crap to be quite boring, but this was great! And one of the dancers gave me his fan! I saw him tippy-toeing his way towards me, and I was thinking, "If this fucker pulls me onstage and makes me try to do this traditional dance with him I'm gonna punch him in the throat!" But instead he presented me with the fan he was using in his dance!

Sorry my pictures suck so bad. I am the world's worst photographer!

ARGH!

It's a serious shame that I'm not allowed to euthanize my coworkers. One coworker, actually. I love the rest.

I mean, what good is being head teacher if you can't euthanize your coworkers?!?

It really is true that every place of employment has one.

Saturday

If you guys haven't checked out Bukchon yet, you should. I went on Saturday and had a good time. Here I am in a hanbok - my first time to wear one. After I got all the layers on properly (not an easy task) I learned how to do 3 different kinds of bows (the bowing was easy, getting back up was a little tricky) and then I had a private lesson in tea etiquette. So the next time I have all my friends over for a traditional tea ceremony (which I do all the time) I'll know exactly how to make and pour tea, how to hold my cup, how to sip my tea, and how to put my cup down properly. Turns out, I've been drinking my tea all wrong for the past 31 years.

HaHa!!

Tom was less than thrilled with his Halloween costume, but I loved it!!! I suspect he really wanted to be Spiderman, since that's what he insists we refer to him as in class.

I'd do just about anything for a cinnamon frosted pop tart right now.

Sunday Night

Last night I braved the storms (seriously, where did that rain come from?!?) to meet up with fellow hashers and friends Voice/Mark, Kimchi Fridge/Jade, and Santa/Mic. We went to 3 Alley's Pub in Itaewon for some food, beer, darts, and pool. I wouldn't say my dart skills are very impressive - in fact, I lost every game - but I had a great time.
