Lately I've been reading alot from this guy. In fact, if anyone were wondering what to get me for the upcoming holidays (hint, hint) it would be a complete set of his poetry. Then I could read it all proper like, curled up in bed with hot chocolate, instead of sitting at my computer. Last night I stayed up too late reading all about his life and studying his poetry, and I think I emailed a few poems to people who could probably give a shit about it. Humanity i love you
because you would rather black the boots of
success than enquire whose soul dangles from his
watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both
parties and because you
unflinchingly applaud all
songs containing the words country home and
mother when sung at the old howard
Humanity i love you because
when you're hard up you pawn your
intelligence to buy a drink and when
you're flush pride keeps
you from the pawn shops and
because you are continually committing
nuisances but more
especially in your own house
Humanity i love you because you
are perpetually putting the secret of
life in your pants and forgetting
it's there and sitting down
on it
and because you are
forever making poems in the lap

I've read bits a pieces of his writings and what little I've read, I couldn't wrap my mind around. Of course that was a long time ago. Perhaps now with more age and apparent wisdom behind me I should look into e.e. Cummings again.
Tell me Jes, where is he from? He uses words like an American but has the context of a European.
